Beaman Library uses the Library of Congress Classification system to arrange books. Books are assigned call numbers based on subject. Below are the main classes:

Tips for Searching for Books

There are several different ways to search for books in Bison Search.

  • You can search by the title of a book.
  • You can search by the author of a book. Type the author's last name first and then type the author's first name.
  • You can also search for books by subject. The subject is the official Library of Congress classification of a book.
  • You can search for books by keyword. Keywords are important words that may or may not be approved subject heading.
