EndNote: Download & Install

For Windows:

• In order to access the download file, you must first be logged into your Lipscomb Gmail account.
• Once you have logged in through Lipscomb, open the EndNote 21 Site Installer.msi file: Windows users and download the file by clicking on the downward button in the middle of the screen.
• Do not open the file until after you have unzipped it: 
  • Right clicking on the download in the task bar and select "show in finder."
  • Create a folder on your desktop (titled however you like) in which to extract the files
  • Once you have found the file in finder, right click on the file and choose "extract all"
  • Save the EndNote file to your new folder and open it
• After unzipping the file, you should see the EndNote installer, and the License file in the folder. Click on the installer EndNote file to begin downloading EndNote. 
• Follow the prompts in the popup box. Be sure to accept the license agreement.
• Click the "Finish" button to finish the installation process.
• The first time you open EndNote, you will need to click on "File" and "New" in the upper left-hand corner and create a new library. Save the library to your documents on your computer. This completes the installation process.

For Mac:

• In order to access the download file, you must first be logged into your Lipscomb Gmail account.
• Once you have logged in through Lipscomb, open the EndNote 21 Site Installer.dmg file: Mac users and download the file by using the downward arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the box after following the link.  Don't click on the file to open it until after you have downloaded it.
• After you have downloaded it, click on the file to open the installer.
• When the installation starts, a popup box will appear. Double click the EndNote 20 icon to install EndNote20.
• You will see a message that the EndNote items are being copied to Applications.
• Click through the steps. Be sure to agree to the license agreement.
• Find the EndNote icon either in your Launchpad or on your dock. 
• Then click on the "EndNote" icon to open EndNote.  You will see the EndNote toolbar appear at the very top of your screen.  You may not see any indications that you are in EndNote except that toolbar.
• Using that toolbar, you will need to click on "File" and "New" in the upper left-hand corner and create a new library. Save the library to your computer. This completes the installation process.
